This guide explains how to connect your Bing Webmaster Tools account to SiteStats so you can view Bing search performance inside your WordPress dashboard. The steps below describe the exact flow users will experience when granting access.
1. Start the Connection #
In your WordPress dashboard:
- Go to SiteStats → Settings.
- Open the Bing tab (or Bing Webmaster).
- Click Connect Bing.
After clicking the Bing Connect button, you will be redirected to a secure Microsoft login page. SiteStats never sees your Microsoft password or login credentials.
Follow the prompts to connect SiteStats to Bing.
2. Choose Your Microsoft Account #
Microsoft will ask you to sign in and select the account that has access to your Bing Webmaster Tools sites.
If you have multiple Microsoft accounts, choose the one associated with the website you want to analyze.
3. Review Permissions #
You will see a consent screen listing the permissions requested by SiteStats. These are used to retrieve your Bing Webmaster data so it can be displayed in WordPress.

SiteStats does not modify or delete your Bing data.
3.1 Why These Permissions Are Needed #
- Read access to Bing Webmaster Tools is required to fetch search analytics data such as queries, clicks, impressions, and average position.
Permissions are used only to display analytics. SiteStats does not request access that would allow it to change your Bing Webmaster settings or site configuration.
4. Grant Access #
Click Accept (or Allow) to grant SiteStats permission to retrieve your Bing Webmaster data. This step allows SiteStats to receive authorization tokens, which are stored securely on your WordPress site.
5. Complete the Connection #
After approving the permissions, you will be redirected back to your WordPress dashboard. You will see a confirmation message that your Bing account is connected.
5.1 Select Your Site #
Once connected, go to SiteStats → Bing (or return to the Bing settings tab). From here, choose the specific site you want to use in SiteStats.
SiteStats will begin populating your dashboard with Bing data as soon as a site is selected.
6. Disconnecting Your Account #
You can disconnect SiteStats from Bing at any time:
- Go to SiteStats → Settings.
- Open the Bing tab.
- Click Disconnect Bing.
You may also revoke access from your Microsoft account security settings (where connected apps are managed).
7. How SiteStats Uses Your Data #
SiteStats retrieves your Bing Webmaster data solely to display analytics dashboards inside WordPress. It does not:
- Modify or delete your Bing data
- Share data with third parties
- Use data for advertising
- Send data to external servers (unless optional cloud features are enabled)

8. Troubleshooting #
If you encounter issues during connection:
- Ensure you are logged into the correct Microsoft account
- Confirm the account has access to the site inside Bing Webmaster Tools
- Check for browser extensions that block redirects or popups
- Ensure your hosting environment allows outgoing HTTPS requests
- If your site list is empty, confirm your website is added and verified in Bing Webmaster Tools
