The Google Analytics module builder in SiteStats allows you to combine metrics and dimensions to create custom charts, KPI tiles, and tables.
A metric is a number, such as Sessions or Conversions. A dimension describes or groups that number, such as Date, Country, or Device.
For example, “Sessions by Date” shows how traffic changes over time, while “Sessions by Country” shows where visitors are located.
Traffic Metrics #
Sessions #
The total number of sessions during the selected date range. A session represents a visit to your website.
Use this to measure overall traffic volume and monitor growth or decline.
Page Views #
The total number of pages viewed during the selected period.
Useful for understanding how much content is being consumed and whether visitors are browsing multiple pages.
Users Metrics #
Users #
The total number of unique users who visited your site.
Helps measure audience size rather than total visits.
Active Users #
The number of users who engaged with your site during the selected period.
Useful for understanding meaningful interaction rather than passive visits.

The number of users visiting your site for the first time.
Helpful for tracking audience growth and acquisition effectiveness.
Engagement Metrics #
Engaged Sessions #
Sessions that lasted longer than 10 seconds, had a conversion event, or included multiple page views.
Indicates higher quality visits.
Engagement Rate #
The percentage of sessions that were engaged sessions.
Useful for evaluating content quality and user experience.
Bounce Rate #
The percentage of sessions that were not engaged.
Helps identify pages or traffic sources that may not meet visitor expectations.
Avg. Session Duration #
The average length of a session.
Useful for understanding how long visitors stay on your site.
Engagement Time #
The total time users actively spent engaging with your website.
Provides insight into actual interaction rather than time spent idle.
Event Count #
The total number of tracked events, such as clicks, downloads, or form submissions.
Useful for measuring interaction volume.

The average number of events triggered per session.
Helps assess how interactive or action-driven your sessions are.

Useful for tracking goals such as purchases, signups, or leads.
Session Conversion Rate #
The percentage of sessions that resulted in at least one conversion.
Helps measure overall site effectiveness.
Available Dimensions #
Date #
Groups data by day. Can be adjusted to week or month in the module settings.
Used for trend analysis.
Country #
Groups data by visitor country.
Useful for geographic analysis and international performance tracking.
City #
Groups data by visitor city.
Helpful for local targeting and regional campaigns.
Device #
Groups data by device category such as desktop, mobile, or tablet.
Useful for UX optimization and mobile performance analysis.
Page Path #
Groups data by the page URL path.
Ideal for identifying top content and underperforming pages.
Channel Group #
Groups traffic by default channel classification such as Organic Search, Direct, Paid Search, or Social.
Useful for high level marketing performance reporting.
Source / Medium #
Groups traffic by specific source and medium combinations, such as google / organic or facebook / paid.
Provides more detailed attribution insight than Channel Group.
Choosing the Right Combination #
- KPI visual: Best for single metrics like Sessions or Conversions.
- Line chart: Best when using Date to analyze trends over time.
- Bar chart: Best for breakdowns such as Country, Device, or Source / Medium.
- Table: Best for detailed breakdowns like Top Pages with multiple metrics.
By combining metrics and dimensions strategically, you can build dashboards that clearly explain not just how much traffic you have, but where it comes from, how users behave, and whether it converts.
